Not just kids but even college students today struggle with Maths in everyday lives. And when it comes to Engineering Maths, it gets tougher. It is an outcome of fear more than anything else. To be put in simple terms, mathematics is no rocket science and one should rather develop an affinity for the subject than detest it due to the fear of not excelling in it.
We understand that every child is born with a certain interest, and Maths cannot be on the top list for every student. Not every student enjoys working with numbers or solving equations. But with the right approach and guidance, students can train themselves to start liking the subject. And this can only happen when the subject starts becoming more related and understandable to them. It is as simple as that.
Maths is everywhere. It is deeply rooted in our daily lives. We just have to start seeing mathematics in everything around us and just like that it will become a topic of interest for us. And we tend to excel in anything that interests us.
Let’s make learning maths easier.
Observe the reality:
The regular instances in our everyday lives are a great source for learning mathematics. We tend to better grasp concepts if equated with a familiar idea or story or context. It certainly helps in relating a particular math concept to situations that students have faced in their regular lives.
For instance, group sports offer a great chance to explain geometry, patterns, statistics, etc. and goal based sports help understand the concept of probability, not mentioning the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Another great example is food. Distributing food into dedicated portions is a good way to look to division. Either way, pizza slices make a great reference for pie charts and their subsequent division. Food for the stomach as well as food for thought, isn’t it?
Websites and apps:
Technology is at our disposal for everything. Like, literally everything. Today, our personal computers and smartphones have become so handy that you can literally study off them. Learning math is also easy over latest apps and websites created to assist specific mathematical concepts. There are plenty of such resources available over the internet and the app stores for your benefit. In today’s age, one cannot underestimate the power of smart apps and math websites.
Find a study partner:
It could be your friend, your tutor or a parent, studying with someone and solving math problems together helps in understanding better. Do your math homework together with a friend or schoolmate. Miss the least classes that you can as new concepts get introduced in every class. In this regard, sharing a good rapport with your tutor helps a great deal in taking additional lessons with respect to new concepts.
There are a number of ways to make learning engineering maths easier for students. We, at MCA, incorporate innovative ways to make students understand advanced engineering mathematics. It is always fun and easy to learn mathematics at Manoj Chaudhari’s Math’s Academy.
